Badminton a něco o něm :)
Badminton je individuální raketový sport, který se hraje i na letních olympiádach.
Při hře dva protivníci, či dvě dvojice odpalují přes síť opeřený míček pomocí rakety a snaží se donutit protivníka k chybě. Chybou je vždy zahrání míčku mimo vyznačené území a nebo neodehrání správného míčku protivníkem. Hráči se nesmí míčku dotknout částí těla či oděvu. ,,Prasátko" (míček se dotkne sítě a spadne na straně soupeře) je povolené.
Badminton se dá hrát v těchto disciplínách: dvouhra žen, dvouhra mužů, čtyřhra žen, čtyřhra mužů a smíšená čtyřhra.
Badminton je také jedním z nejrychlejším raketových sportů. Každý hráč by měl mít výbornou fyzickou kondičku a také dobrý postřeh. Badmintonový opeřený míček dokonce v roce 2009 dosáhl rychlosti 414km/h - této rychlosti dosáhl Japonec Naoki Kamawae pomocí badmintonové rakety značky Yonex, model ArcSaber Z-Siash. V porovnání s ostatními raketovými sporty: squashový míček dosáhl rychlosti 286km/h, tenisový míček rychlosti 249,9km/h.
Badminton patří také mezi nejstarší sporty na světě - první doložené zápisy o badmintonu pochází až ze 7.století! Číňané hráli hru takzvanou Di-Dčijan-Dsi. Mimo asijský kontinent se tato hra provozovala mezi indiány celé Ameriky a dokonce i ve středověké Evropě, kde pak byla tato hra zapomenuta.
Dějiny moderního badmintonu se píšou od roku 1850, kdy poonu (pojmenovaná dle indického města Puna) objevili britští vojáci. Ti hru přivezli do Anglie, kde o 10 let později získala současný název - badminton. Isaac Spratt svůj článek, kde popisoval hru, kterou hráli v Badminton House s vévodou z Baufortu, pojmenoval ,,Badminton Battledore - a new game".
V roce 1934 vznikla Mezinárodní fedeace badmintonu - IBF (Internation Badminton Federation). IBF byla přejmenována na BWF (Badminton World Federation) - Badmintonová světová federace.
V roce 1992 byl badminton natrvalo na seznamu olympijských sportů.
Mezi české hráče, kteří se zúčastnili olympijských her v roce 1992 v Barceloně byl Tomasz Mendrek a Eva Lacinová. V roce 2008 se jich zúčastnili v Pekingu Petr Koukal a Kristína Ludíková.
